It's not just about the deadline

Most house fires start at night, while everyone's asleep. Smoke, not flames, is what hurts people, and it can fill a home in just a few minutes. The right alarms in the right places buy your family the time to get out.

Young families

Kids sleep deeply and often won't wake to a single alarm down the hall. Interconnected alarms sound in every bedroom at once, so you hear it and they hear it, giving you precious seconds to get to them.

Elderly parents & grandparents

Older people can be slower to wake, hard of hearing or less mobile. When every alarm in the house goes off at once, the warning reaches them wherever they are, giving them, and you, the extra time needed to help them get out safely.

Everyone under your roof

Old ionisation alarms can be slow to pick up smouldering fires, the most common kind at night. Modern photoelectric alarms react earlier, and that early warning is what saves lives.

Does your smoke alarm look like this?

If your alarm has a yellow sticker with a radiation symbol on the back, it's an ionisation alarm. And if you can pop the battery out, it's likely not compliant either. Queensland homes now need photoelectric, interconnected alarms with a sealed 10 year battery or hardwired power. If yours look like this, you need an upgrade.

Why act now?

As 2027 gets closer, thousands of Queensland homes will be chasing the same few electricians. Book early and get a time that suits you.

What a compliant home looks like

Under the Queensland rules, your alarms need to be:

  • Photoelectric alarms (not the older ionisation type)
  • Linked together, so one alarm sets off every alarm
  • Under 10 years old
  • One on every storey
  • One inside every bedroom
  • In the hallway outside bedrooms

Sound familiar?

Most homeowners we speak to feel the same way. Here's how we take it off your plate.

"I don't even know what the new rules are."

We explain exactly what your home needs in plain English, no jargon, no guesswork.

"I'm worried about what the costs will be."

We'll give you a free, upfront quote with options to suit your budget. And think about the alternative: if a fire damages your home and your alarms weren't compliant, your insurer could reduce or refuse your claim. A proper install now could save you tens of thousands of dollars later.

"I'm scared I'll miss something and still not be compliant."

Placement is our job. We know the rules room by room and hand you a certificate to prove it.

"I've got kids asleep upstairs and alarms that don't talk to each other."

Interconnected alarms mean one goes off, they all go off, so everyone wakes up, wherever they are.

"I've seen DIY smoke alarm kits. Can't I just do it myself?"

You can stick up battery alarms, but most DIY jobs miss the placement rules, don't interconnect properly, or leave old hardwired alarms in place, which still isn't compliant. Hardwired alarms legally need a licensed electrician. We get it right once and give you the certificate to prove it.
